Bonnaroo Lineup Revealed

Bonnaroo ArchIt’s that time of year again folks: The Bonnaroo lineup has been released. So pack up your tents, gas up your car, and grab all your friends, because this year is going to be one to remember.

Bonnaroo, for those that have never heard of it, is a four-day music and comedy festival held at the 700-acre Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tenn. It is a multi-day event with more than 150 bands playing each year, and because the festival’s environmentally-conscious mentality, the festival goers get a chance to spend the weekend camping on the grounds of the park.

There are plenty of designated areas where people can set up, with great names such as Camp Chewbacca and Camp Ace Ventura. These campsites are sectioned off from the center of the festival, known as centerloo, by a large wall known as Graffitti Wall (you can figure out where the name comes from). The festival also houses a score of activity booths, carnival rides, vendors, movie tents, and just about anything else you could think of.

Now on to the best part of Bonnaroo: the bands. In its 13 years, Bonnaroo has held a score of great musicians ranging from Old Crow Medicine Show, RJD2, and Ben Folds Five, to The Cat Empire and Kendrick Lamar. Along with big names like these, they also host lesser-known bands, making this a festival for people that enjoy music in all its forms.

Every year Bonnaroo lists their lineup in advance of ticket sales in order to give everyone an opportunity to decide if they would like to go (duh) before they but tickets. Normally, they simply post the list and that’s that, but this year they went a a little further. The group that produces Bonnaroo, Superfly Presents, created a whole pre-show for the unveiling, showing off members of the lineup along the way. Hosted by comedians Hannibal Buress and Taran Killam as well as having a performance by past Bonnaroo performers Ben Folds and the Flaming Lips. It was a lot of pomp and circumstance for a list, but it was totally worth it.

Major headliners for this year’s festival include Kanye West, Jack White, Vampire Weekend, and in his first American festival appearance ever, Elton John. Comedians Killam and Buress will also be performing at the Comedian Stage. This will be one for the history books folks, so when ticket sales go live on Feb. 22, you better act fast because tickets won’t last long.

For more information on who else is performing, the complete lineup is listed below. One last piece of advice; The festival is in June and it’s in the South, so dress lightly and be sure to have plenty of liquid on hand (I mean beer as well as water).
